A 30 minute drive plus a 40 minute walk up the hill brings you to Swindale Pools, a series of 7 beautiful secluded swim pools with waterfalls.

Your closest lakes for a dip are Ullswater and Haweswater (both between 20 - 30 minutes drive). Ullswater offers a huge range of water sports and activities, and at the end of Hawester are some family favourites - Kidsty Pike, Highstreet, Mardale Ill Bell and Harter fell.

Pooley Bridge is a hot tourist destination for food and drinks. If you take the left route around Ullswater you it leads you to Howtown, Hallin fell and Sandwick Bay. Take the right to wind up in Glendridding, which is where you can begin the legendary trek up Hellvelyn (Between 20-45 minutes driving).
