Howdy Glamping Retreats consists of a warm selection of seven caravans, yurts and a barn resting on 14 acres of farmland in Great Strickland, Cumbria. This collection offers a bohemian-style stay with features like toasty woodburning stoves, an open-plan layout and blissful countryside views, making it a lovely base for couples, families, friends and pets!

Each dwelling has its own kitchen appliances like a microwave, kettle, and toaster, plus plenty of shared facilities on-site, creating a wonderful community feeling. There's a small library where guests can swap books, laundry facilities, shared shower areas, charging points for phones and Hubi batteries and an outdoor seating area where you can all enjoy some wonderful food that's been sizzled up on the barbecue.


HOWDY BARN

Howdy Barn is a charming barn conversion set within a working smallholding of 14 acres, accessed by a mile-long farm lane.

This retreat offers off-road parking, a toasty hot tub and woodburning stove, partial ground-floor living and welcomes one well-behaved dog, making it perfect for families or friends.

Upon entering Howdy Barn, you will be greeted by a ground-floor double bedroom and a single bedroom, both tastefully decorated to reflect the property's homely charm.

A few steps away, you will find the shower room, perfect for refreshing after a day of exploration.

The heart of the home is the open-plan area, where you will find a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge area with two grand  sofas, a large coffee table, and a cupboard with maps, games, a TV, DVDs, and access to all your online channels through WiFi.

The wood burner is the main heat supply, and there is a complimentary basket of wood for your use, along with kindling and fire starters.

A utility room is also available on site, adding to the convenience of your stay.

Venture outside to the non-enclosed garden, where you can relax on the lawn or take a dip in the hot tub.

The garden features perennial beds, fruit trees, and free-range chickens roaming the 14-acre farm.

This outdoor space adds to the bohemian charm of Howdy Barn, making it a unique and memorable countryside retreat that captures the essence of rural Cumbrian life.


YURTS

There are 3 unique Yurts to choose from all situated in the serene woodland of Great Strickland, in the North Lakes.

Willow is the largest at 24ft, followed by Ashkey and Yewberrie which are both 18ft. 

Follow the pathway to the entrance of your new abode, where you will be greeted by a unique circular-shaped interior, a double bed and plenty of storage, offering an intimate space to catch your rest.

The kitchen area is ideal for cooking meals to be enjoyed at the dining area, offering ample seating for all.

The sitting area is centred around a beautiful woodburning stove with firelighters, paper kindling, and matches.

A handy private cloakroom with a compost WC is also available.

The yurts all have access to a communal shower and kitchen area,  ensuring all your personal needs are catered for.

Step outside to the non-enclosed garden, where you can enjoy dining on the provided furniture, cook on the barbecue, or gather around the fire pit for a night under the stars.


RETRO CARAVAN & GYPSY WAGON

You can chose from Bramble The Retro Caravan and Rosa The Gypsy Wagon, both of which sleep 2 people.

Bramble is a light and airy refurbished 1970's caravan with beautiful camping kitchen outside and all you need to make a brew and an easy meal, set in woodland.

You can lay in bed and hear the rustle of the tree leaves and the bird song. A true getting back to nature location with plenty to do in the immediate area and the lakes just a short drive away.

The caravan has its own covered outdoor kitchen and fire, plus there is a larger central firepit area and BBQ under a parachute which is communal. It has all the additions to create a simple meal, with candles and solar lights.

There is a compost toilet and a short walk down the track to the farm outhouse there is a flushable toilet, electric shower, fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and microwave.

Each washing up area has everything you need - scourers, liquid (we try to be as plastic free as possible, refilling containers rather than buying new each time) plus dishcloths and tea towels.

Rosa Gypsy Wagon is a beautifully finished Gypsy caravan set on railway sleepers with decking and Summerhouse, situated in a six acre woodland. The adjoining pod is a one-of-a-kind handmade Gypsy caravan, with summer house, handcrafted doors and a worktop.

As you enter this single-storey retreat, you’ll find an open-plan space designed for comfort and convenience.

The kitchen has everything you need, while the dining area for two is perfect for intimate meals.

The sitting area, offers a nice spot to relax on the two-seater sofa after a day of exploring.

The bedroom is set in a separate space from the living area, it is a sumptuous sleeping area featuring a double bed positioned to allow you to wake up to views of the surrounding woodlands.

There is a compost WC set behind the pod, and a communal shower room is available for your convenience.

The property also has a utility, perfect for those longer stays.

Step outside onto the private decking, furnished and lit up with fairy lights, throw a log on the chiminea and enjoy a warming cup of sweetness, or opt for a refreshing chilled drink, perfect for enjoying the serenity of the setting.

The shared garden, with its lawn, furniture, chiminea, and barbecue, extends the living space outdoors.
